The Stanford University Advisory Panel on Investment Responsibility (APIR) consists of faculty, students, alumni and staff members. Candidates are nominated to represent Stanford constituents by the Faculty Senate Committee on Committees, the ASSU Committee on Nominations and the President’s Office. Appointment of all representatives is approved by the president of the university.

APIR is charged with advising the university trustees and officers—and specifically the trustees’ Special Committee on Investment Responsibility (SCIR)—concerning investment responsibility matters related to endowment securities.
The work of APIR, formerly called the Committee on Investment Responsibility, is guided by the Statement on Investment Responsibility first adopted by the Board of Trustees in April 1971. The Statement is a living document and was revised June 14, 1985, June 13, 1996, September 1, 1997 and October 15, 2002.
Members of the university community are welcome to bring matters of investment concern to the APIR’s attention by completing an “APIR Request For Review”. You can access and complete an “APIR Request For Review” by using the appropriate Stanford Community secure area link below. Please e-mail the completed form to Linda Kimball, Director of Investment Responsibility at kimby@stanford.edu. If you have additional question, please e-mail Linda Kimball at kimby@stanford.edu or you may reach her by calling (650) 926-0251.
