2010-2011 Seasonal Flu Information

Stanford University is committed to reducing the health risks and incidence of seasonal flu among our students, faculty and staff. Vaccines continue to be available on campus. All travelers should consider getting vaccinated.

Students

Flu shots are available free of charge to students and their spouse/domestic partner at Vaden Health Center. Those interested should call 498-2336 to schedule an appointment or go to the Vaden website and select "online services" to book an appointment in the Immunization Clinic.  Students can also go to the Vaden website to download information and consent forms.

Faculty, staff, retirees and post-doctoral scholars

Free flu shots are available at the Occupational Health Center, 480 Oak Road, on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary. For more information about the vaccine and to download consent forms, go to the Occupational Health Center's website.

Flu Prevention:

• Wash hands frequently and avoid touching your face.
• Keep immune system strong with regular exercise, vitamin-rich foods, sufficient sleep and plenty of fluids.
• Avoid sharing eating utensils, water bottles, towels or bedding without first washing these items with soap and hot water.
• Clean surfaces soiled with body fluids with a household disinfectant. (Use gloves while cleaning.)
• Cover your cough (cough into your sleeve at the elbow).
• Stay away from work or classes when sick with a fever or actively coughing.
